Meet Naeema

From a young age, I have been fascinated with the human mind. So I chose to follow my heart and studied Psychology at the University of Toronto, graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Science. I started my career in the field of community and social services at a government agency, providing financial and employment assistance. I worked with individuals who experienced various life challenges including mental health, trauma, substance use, relationship and family conflict. It was humbling to provide support to those in need and reinforced my desire to enhance mental health and well-being.

I returned to graduate school at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto where I completed a Master of Education, in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a firm believer of ongoing personal and professional development. Since graduating, I have engaged in various training opportunities to further my knowledge and skill set, including both Certificate programs in Trauma 1 and 2 at the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre, Attachment Styles, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

I have worked in various settings outside private practice. Most recently, a non-profit community agency in Durham, providing individual and group counselling to survivors of sexual violence. My clients have experienced sexual harassment, sexual assault (historical and recent), sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, childhood abuse (physical, emotional, psychological, sexual), human trafficking, developmental, and complex trauma.

I believe building strength and resiliency is as important as healing trauma and pain. This philosophy is the foundation of my therapeutic work with clients. This is your time! You deserve to be healthy, happy, and fulfilled. Therapy can lead you to the life you imagine for yourself.
